Hello everyone,
I think we should congratulate ourselves on having done so well in the face of the Obama tsunami and the massive ad war that the two major parties had in Pennsylvania. 23,000 votes is nothing to be sneezed at. It was a really difficult environment for third parties, which is reflected in the very disappointing showings of the national third-party candidates. In my race, Mike Doyle resorted to an expensive advertisement blitz in which he portrayed himself as being on the side of the people, not Wall Street. That this was misleading is not the point. The point is that now he has staked out a position as being tough on Wall Street, and if he maintains that position would be because of our campaign. He also spoke more forcefully in favor of single payer than ever, and he emphasized renewable energy more than ever. If he goes back to Washington and actually keeps those positions, then that is our victory.
We also exposed Mr. Doyle and the people of the 14th District to arguments for a non-interventionist and non-militaristic foreign policy, the abolition of the Federal Reserve, a settlement of the Israel-Palestine conflict based on international law, and other important issues. And along the way, we managed to have some fun!
