The United States must send US AID directly into Gaza
A solution to the crisis in Gaza that the United States government could implement immediately if it wanted to would be so send the U.S. Agency for International Development directly into Gaza. The Americans would be unarmed but would supply massive amounts of food and medicine for immediate relief and could finance and direct long-term reconstruction. If the Israeli's want to keep their border with Gaza sealed, they could do so, but there should be no toleration of Israeli control over Gaza's coastline or airspace. Egypt, which is an American client state and the second largest recipient of American aid next to Israel, would be required to keep its border open. The same approach could then be taken in the West Bank, where Americans could dismantle all Israeli military installations in the territory, including check points and the apartheid wall that was built on Palestinian territory. If the Israelis choose to continue construction of the wall on their side of the border, it would be up to them. Again, the Americans would not be armed, nor would they interfere in the Palestinian political process. This is entirely within the capabilities of the United States to achieve, so there is no excuse for the new Obama administration to allow the occupation to continue.
