Democrat health bill is another giveaway to Wall Street

The health care "reform" bills being pushed by the Democrats in the Senate and the House will not only make things worse, but they will postpone by years any real solution to our deteriorating health care system. If I were in Congress, I would work to defeat the bills. I have long supported a single-payer system that will eliminate the massive waste, administrative redundancy, fraud, and greed of the private insurance industry. I have experienced the Japanese single-payer system, which does a much better job of delivering services at a far lower cost than the American system.
While I would fight vigorously for a single-payer system, I am not so much of an ideologue that I would vote against a bill that would improve things for Americans simply because it's not single-payer. But the bills being considered by Congress DO NOT improve things, but make things worse. They do nothing to rein in costs even though the insurance companies are already gouging us. The bills force millions of working people to buy insurance they cannot afford or be subjected to fines. It will provide hundreds of billions to Wall Street-owned insurance companies in the hopes that some of it may be used to take care of the poor. Like many people, I already pay more for my family's health insurance than I do for our mortgage, and this situation is only going to get more common.
Let's face it. Wall Street owns the private health care system just like it owns our president and congress. Wall Street is becoming increasingly brazen in their attack on American taxpayers. It can raid the treasury to bail out banks after their speculations go bad. It can get Congress to give their companies polution credits for free that they can then sell for megabucks as part of "cap and trade." It has very real control of the Federal Reserve (please take a look at the list of Federal Reserve Bank directors from the Fed's own web site). Franklin Roosevelt called fascism "ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power." My friends, we are there already. Let's wake up and fight back before they consolidate too much power.
